Weidong Chen

2.Biography

He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Central China Normal University in 1991, Master's degree in Computer Science Theory from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in 1997, and Doctor's degree in Computer Application Technology from South China University of Technology in 2009. He was a scholar visitor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas in the United States from February 2011 to March 2012. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Computer Science at South China Normal University.

3.Research Interests

His research interests include graph theory and complex networks, combinatorial optimization, algorithms and computational complexity, especially fast algorithms for NP-hard problems in large-scale social networks.

He has published over 20 papers in the domestic authoritative journal Chinese Journal of Computers(计算机学报)and international renowned journals such as IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, Information Sciences, Discrete Mathematics, The Computer Journal, as well as in the proceedings of international conference LNCS. He once presided over several scientific research projects, including a project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a project of the Fund for Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars of the Ministry of Education, and a project of the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province.
